Citi commits to $10,000 sponsorship of Run &
Walk for AIDS
QSanAntonio, March 28, 2014
Banking giant Citi on March 27 presented a check for $10,000 to the San
Antonio AIDS Foundation in support of the organization's 2014 Run &
Walk for AIDS September 27 at the Blue Star Arts Complex.
The check was given to SAAF officials in a special presentation by Citi's
vice president for community relations Mark Nerio at SAAF's headquarters
on East Grayson Street. Citi will be listed as the Red Ribbon Sponsor
for the 2014 Run & Walk for AIDS.
"Citi has been remarkably supportive of SAAF and the Run & Walk
for AIDS for seven years. We feel that their participation helps build
awareness of HIV to a broader community," says Jill Rips, SAAF’s
Deputy Executive Director.
The Run & Walk for AIDS brings together walkers runners and teams
to a festival-like setting along the banks of the San Antonio River. The
run and walk takes place along the Riverwalk's newly landscaped Mission
Reach. It begins and ends at the Blue Star Arts Complex where there will
be entertainment, booths and entertainment for attendees.
Last year upwards of 500 people participated in the event. This year,
organizers are anticipating a significant increase in attendance.
“Corporations that show long term commitment to community causes
are somewhat scarce during these times," explains David Ewell, SAAF
executive director. "Citi has shown their care and support not only
to SAAF and the community but through their employees as well. Their employee
participation has been phenomenal.”
"Individuals and companies who take part in the Run & Walk for
AIDS provide an essential source of monetary assistance for SAAF at a
time when funding and grants are more difficult to obtain," says
The San Antonio AIDS Foundation's Run & Walk for AIDS is scheduled
for Saturday, September 27, 2014, 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event includes
a 5K run and a 2-mile walk and will begin and end at the Blue Star Arts
Complex. Details at www.SanAntonioAIDS.org
